The detail on the left side reads:

“The last flight and end of the ear of military amphibian aircraft. The pilots eased the throttles to maximum power and the 7250 pushed forward for takeoff. First and second power are called and hand signals are given due to the buzzing intercom. With cruise power set, the smooth flight around Cape Cod and the Islands was an excellent opportunity to reflect on the history of this record holding aircraft. All too soon the flight returned to Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod and was readied for its retirement ceremony. The ceremony was a significant event befitting a Flag Officer’s retirement. The grand finale of the ceremony was accomplished with a final flight. The “Herdsman” manned the rail (both sides of the taxiway) in salute, with misting weather and practically no visibility. We all questioned whether or not they would actually try to do the final ceremonial flight. That question was answered shortly when we heard takeoff power. They did get airborne, but touched down almost immediately due to the very poor visibility. The 7250 was then placed on display at the entrance to Air Station Cape Cod, where she still provides an inspiration to all aviators and recognition of many historic flights.” - Willy Williamson

The detail on the right side reads:

Bryan David Snuffer is a world class military artist that has found his niche in depicting military specific historical subject matters. Many of these works capture the spirit and camaraderie of Coast Guard Aviation. The industry has certainly supplied him with many opportunities for outstanding storylines in illustrating search and rescue operations undertaken by the U.S. Coast Guard. The devotion to their craft is worth a thousand pictures. Making his home in Muskegon, Michigan, Bryan gives his home town all the attention in the world. The Muskegon area has been rich in aviation activity for a number of years and Bryan is no stranger to it. Painting scenes of Coast Guard Aviation has been an occupation of his. His commitment to supporting the men and women of the Coast Guard has led to many images that have captured the excitement behind the great adventure.

“Every Memorial Day Weekend reminds me of the commitment the men and women of our nation’s armed forces make in protecting the freedoms of our great country.” – Bryan
