The detail on the left side reads:

October 30, 2009 – On this evening it was with great sadness to report that a Coast guard C-130 (CG-1705), crewed by seven Guardians crashed about fifteen miles east of San Clemente Island off the coast of San Diego. Coast Guard 1705 was in search of an overdue twelve foot pleasure craft. At the time of 19:15 Pacific Local Time there was a collision with a Marine Corps AH-1W Cobra Helicopter that was conducting a separate training exercise. The Guardians that crewed CG-1705 flew with honor and pride. They did their duty. They were indeed professionals and they performed their jobs with great precision. They will not pass from our memories as they were our friends, our family and our shipmates…

Bryan David Snuffer is a world class military artist that has found his niche in depicting unit specific historical subject matters. Making his home in Muskegon, Michigan, Bryan gives his home town all the attention in the world. The Muskegon area has been rich in aviation activity for a number of years and Bryan is not stranger to it. Painting scenes of Coast Guard Aviation has been an occupation of his. His commitment to supporting the men and women of the Coast Guard has led to many images that have captured the excitement behind the great adventure.

The detail on the right side reads:

The pre-flight checklists are complete as the four engines begin to roars to life. The crew of CG 1705 taxis the large aircraft away from the ramp heads out to runway at McClellan Field. The Lockheed-Martin HC-130H Hercules - CG 1705 assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento carries seven brave Guardsmen. As air crew of any aircraft in the US Military know, it is not a sure thing that there will always be a safe return. As this mission began the seven members of the crew were responding to calls of distress from a merchant vessel not too far from the Southern California coast. Today we honor the seven crew members of CG 1705 as well as the two Marines Corps Aviators aboard the AH-1W Super Cobra. They were as follows: Lt. Cmdr. Che J. Barnes, age 35, Capay, Calif., Aircraft Commander, Lt. Adam W. Bryant, age 28, Crew, Va., Copilot, Chief Petty Officer John F. Seidman, age 43, Stockton, Calif., Flight Engineer, Petty Officer 2nd Class Carl P. Grigonis, age 35, Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Navigator, Petty Officer 2nd Class Monica L. Beacham, age 29, Decaturville, Tenn, Radio Operator, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason S. Moletzsky, age 26, Norristown, Pa., Air Crew, Petty Officer 3rd Class Danny R. Kreder II, age 22, Elm Mott, Texas, Drop Master. The crew members of the Marine Corps Helicopter were: Maj. Samuel Leigh, age 35, Kennebec, Maine, 1st Lt. Thomas Claiborne, age 26, Douglas, Colo.
